Love Bugs and Dulcimers

I love it when I get clues from the outside world that what I'm writing might prove to be worth the effort. I recently finished a song called Dulcimer and am working on one called Love Bug (I'm just a love bug in an SUV world...) -- it's goofy, I know, but I never do goofy. On my walk this morning, I passed by a house that had a big orange flag -- you know one of those decorative flags -- that said LUV BUG and then right after that I saw a parked car with a vanity plate that said "DULCIMER" -- I'm not one for reading much into that kind of thing -- well actually I am, but I wouldn't describe myself as particularly superstitious. It's a beautiful day -- I wish I wasn't so busy. I have a lot to do this week. Everybody seems busy -- frantic, running around like there's a fire somewhere. I'm going to make a list so I can attempt a linear progression instead of scattering here and there.

I had a great visit with my friend Dick. It was hard to see him leave. He's probably back in New York now riding on his tractor, if he's not at his computer. He has his own company doing new media projects for independent artists and music labels. He's doing a fantastic job -- interesting work. Okay -- off to do my list. I want to accomplish some specific things this week -- it'll be a blitz!

1 AM

I was so sleepy earlier and went to bed. I'm reading The Tattooed Girl by Joyce Carol Oates who is one of my favorite writers, but this book is disturbing and emotionally violent. And now I'm up again sitting in my office. I came in here for a poetry book, but sat down in front of my computer. My computer is very seductive. I hear some folks fall in love with their Macs -- I fear I may have. Today I started a class which I am excited about -- I mentioned it in my last post. The things is, the class uses PCs which really do feel very different to me and the language is alien -- I thought explorer was just a browser until today -- and with Macs, there is nothing called a directory, well there probably is, but I don't know anything about it. I just know about folders -- thousands and millions of folders! Anyway, it's nice to be back here with the one I love -- even though it is past 1 in the morning now and I've yet to pick out a poetry book.

My friend Dick comes in from New York Saturday -- he will only be here for the day -- tsk tsk. I wish he could stay longer. He's a good friend and fellow Chivas lover from way back.

Okay, off to find something to soothe my soul -- sorry Joyce, you just ain't gonna do for tonight. That tattooed girl is too damn scary.

Nighty night --

Web Design Class

I'm in class now and I've already fallen behind -- my pokey nature has once again intervened and made me clumsy on the keyboard -- I'm not used to keystrokes -- I dig the mouse. Anyway, I'm still excited and looking forward to redesigning my music site.
